Proverbs 31

The Message Bible

10-31 A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
   all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
   and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She's like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
   and brings back exotic surprises.
She's up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she's put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She's skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
   diligent in homemaking.
She's quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn't worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
"Many women have done wonderful things,
   but you've outclassed them all!"
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
   Festoon her life with praises!

The Proverbs 31 woman used to intimidate me, that is, until I read this article by Julia Bettencourt of Creative Ladies Ministry

Ms. Julia suggests looking at the daunting list of characteristics as a string of pearls.

“Each characteristic that she embodies being a pearl on the strand of our life.
We don’t just automatically have the whole strand put together. Some of us are half-stranded! ... all are a work in progress!”

When I look at these characteristics as a life long goal I am less intimated, and perhaps it will help you too.

I want my life as a Christ follower to be reflected in all I do and say. My hope is that by building my personal string of pearls, others will see Christ in me.

The author offers some “pearls” to add to our string:

Virtue -  Proverbs 31:10
Faithfulness – 31:11
Reverence – 31:12
Goodness – 31:12
Willing Worker – 31:13
Good Manager – 31:14-15
Industrious – 31:16
Strength – 31:17
Endurance – 31:18
Well Rounded – 31:19
Charitable – 31:20
Provider – 31:21
Well Dressed – 31:19
Wife of a Good Husband – 31:23
Good Business Woman – 31:24
Honorable – 31:25
Wise - 31:26
Kind – 31:26
Good Mother – 31:27
Busy – 31:27
Praiseworthy – 31:28
Attains or Excels – 31:29
Fear the Lord – 31:30
Fruit Bearing – 31:31

Wear these pearls while you are building character strengths! No reason not to feel pretty! A super buy for only $9.00 !! Scorpienna’s Beadery

As a curvy woman, of course I am nervous about wearing lingerie. Thank goodness my husband likes my curves! Lately we’ve been watching America’s Got Talent, and the only reason I watch is for the Glamazon girls. These women are voluptuous and are on TV strutting their stuff. I tell you what~ they look good and make me not so worried about buying and wearing lingerie. In fact they inspire me to want wear something sexy!

Off to Indie shop I go-

First I find this pretty vintage camisole on ETSY, offered for sale by Purveyors of Waste .

I love the delicate feel of this vintage cami, wouldn’t it be pretty with a jean skirt and cardigan?

For a little fun- You HAVE to check out Lemon Cadet’s panties.

Yeti panties crack me up. (Pun intended!)

The shop owner has these listed as a large; But maybe you could sweet talk her into making you a larger Yeti!

Ha ~ that’s funny and you know it.

FYI -I have ordered a custom shirt from Lemon Cadet and she was very accommodating.

Hmmm, maybe a Costume???

Argggh matey! A DIY pattern from Pattern Palace .

Or how about this sexy rockabilly Polka dot Corset listed in Ghostknife’s store on Mintd.

Alright~ no fun loving big girl could pass these up for her boudoir fun!

Spider Pasties from Fondapetting ‘s Etsy shop. Be sure to check out her easy spin nipple tassels too. J

Perhaps you know more than you want about plus size lingerie and my personal tastes. But this was a fun blog to research!

See ya.

I found the most amazing video on myspace. Its called “Fat Rant” by Joy Nash.

Its 7 minutes long, but worth every minute.

Check out her blog also. I love her take on things. http://fatrantblog.wordpress.com/

While looking for more shopping sites for plussies I found this awesome store:

http://holyclothing.com

Sure wish I had found it before I went on the cruise in March. Look at that pink sun dress.

I love the way this top from Cipolla crosses over the chest. Its very figure flattering and the appliqués are way cute!

Be sure to check out her entire shop, she has amazing items to purchase.

The stitcher says that everything is created with excitement and commitment, and it shows.

The line that makes me ponder just what is a cucina?

Fresh for AUGUST • A little love for your cucina...”

Building my Business.

Well, as of August 1, I will be in serious business building mode.

Things I’ve done to build it so far:

Weebly site
Etsy Store
Mintd store
Purchased a new digi camera for awesome pictures, had new fabric labels made to sew in my clothes and get this, bought 10 yards of fabric off Ebay.

Now, how to get the traffic?

Some say blogging helps, I’m not sure if people really read my silly little blog. Why would they?

This leads me to this question…

Who in the world came up with Blog anyway?

I’m very curious now..

This article claims that Russians invented it years ago:

This one says it was Ben Franklin:

This lady claims it:

Personally I like the urban myth that Al Gore invented blogging.:)

I love my job, really. The people (most) are super. The hours perfect. Work space fine. But dern it, all this work they have me doing keeps me from surfing the web!

giggle.

I do like summer time when it slows down and I can find cool stuff on the web. My day crawls by unless I'm on www.mintd.com or www.etsy.com

I also like www.flickr.com too. Its fun seeing the different pictures people take!

I visit some of my favorite blogs and play a game of majong on Redbook magazine. And that rounds out my day.

woo, I've got it made, except for the spreadsheet staring me in the face, awaiting data. DERN.

To work I go.

bye!

Oh my goodness, I've been blogged. Wow.

http://fatchic.dianarajchel.com/

I love this author of this blog, she is so up to date on the latest fashion and describes how things nicely.

Lets face it those that know me know I'm not necessarily a fashionista.
I love fashion and read all the fashion mags. Vogue, Marie Claire, Allure. Give me a magazine with glossy photos and Avant Garde (SP?) fashion photos  and I'm in heaven!

Since opening WhiteStone Stitchery, I find myself wanting to try something different, something "outside" of the box for me...

This is very difficult I might add.  I'm a 40+ mom, with grown kids and four pets at home. My life is very comfortable, but nothing challenges me.

Look at these fashions - I want to step outside of my comfort zone and do something like these!  They are amazing!

"Organized Chaos Dress" by Prinsen Design on Mintd

http://www.mintd.com/products/show/1803-Organized-Chaos-Dress

How fun is this dress? Look how the dress flows and how cute the top part is. This is just flat out fun to me, especially with the boots.

"Krista Top" by Isisis on Mintd

http://www.mintd.com/products/show/106-Krista-Top

I love the versatility of this top. I could actually see someone in suburbia wearing this. Even though to me it seems high fashion. I'm a sucker for criss cross stuff across the chest too. If I was smaller, I would probably own one and wear it with a jean skirt.

"Simple Complexity in Violet" by Circular Accessories on mintd

http://www.mintd.com/products/show/544-Simple-Complexity-in-Violet

Who would have thought to put a design like this on a tshirt? Seems to me like a firecracker is exploding over your breast. YAY!! Love the simplicity of this shirt and how the addition of a firecracker boob makes me want to buy it.

I gave one of her men's tshirts to my son, and he absolutely loves it. The fabric is very high quality and the giant goldfish is fun. Similar to this:

Post Title. 07/11/2007

5:55 a.m. Just finished my walk with the dogs. Whew, it is already juicy and hot outside.

I used to spend that time walking and talking to God, I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy talking to my dogs like I did, but I was really just praying!

Now though I walk with my neighbor, she is young and pregnant. Its nice to remember how it was to be that age. And maybe just maybe I can offer some guidance to her life. If nothing else, we are getting good exercise together.

Today is my favorite day of the work week. We have co-op church is what I call it. Its a group of people that meet before work and share a brief devotional and pray together. For our company, coworkers and others. Its a nice way to bring God to work.

Ok, well I suppose i should go take a shower, have a nice day!

What a dork 07/10/2007

Set up my first web page. All by myself. Whatcha think about that?

As my son and sister will agree I'm not the smartest cookie when it comes to website development. They set up a My Space page for me and now I take all the credit! ha! www.myspace.com/whitestonestitchery

I've been reading this really cool blog lately, Anything Indie   http://www.anythingindie.com/dreams_and_jewelry/

Still trying to figure out how to do this properly, but that's ok. Its my first time bloggin.

Basically I feel like a dork, but will continue on with trying to network and learn new ways to get my name and street cred built up.
